Military Hospital
Located in "Het Groen Kwartier" neighborhood in southeast Antwerp, the former doctor’s residence of the Military Hospital has served many purposes over
the years. At one point, it housed military offices, and for a time, talented athletes stayed there.
am designs restored the building as a unified whole; completely renovated the house from top to bottom, essentially stripping it down. The private house was established as showroom, offering a catalogue of products either designed and produced in-house or by renowned brands.
From the lounge area, there is a full view of the kitchen, with a long visual perspective extending to the dining area. A floor-to-ceiling heigh glass and iron structure with a hinged door visually connects the living and kitchen spaces.
Custom table and seat cushions, combined with the iconic Tractor stools by Bassam Fellows, for the cosy dining area.
Brass accents draw the attention, especially the unique artworks by Slater Bradley and Jacqy duVal.
Custom dining table by am designs, crafted to harmonize with the PP Møbler dining chairs. Iconic furniture pieces continue throughout the house; the study is primarily furnished with Knoll designs, while the TV room features Fritz Hansen’s PK22 and Egg chairs.
All bedrooms are bright and minimalist, featuring decorative design and antique objects, books, and artwork. The beds are also part of am designs’ collection, handmade in Belgium. The master ensuite bathroom contrasts with dark grey béton ciré, creating a calming, wellness-like atmosphere.
