mertens has always wanted to share what he loves in art and design. am studio grew from that — a way to bring fine art into am designs' interiors, mixing eras and styles around pieces chosen for their craft.

for mertens, art carries what nothing else can. it holds an artist's emotion, and gives a room a depth that furniture alone cannot reach. patterns in architecture, art, and nature have shaped how he sees space since long before am designs began.

the studio is never fixed. art, design classics, and pieces from am designs' own collection shift and rotate, so no two visits look quite the same.
